Carpathia, Ukraine

The region is located in the southwest of Ukraine. The overall area of the region is 56 500 km² (9.4% of the Ukraine territory). The population is about 6.1 million people, which constitutes 13% of the population of Ukraine.

General facts about the Carpathian Region:

Total output of the region amounts to 3,68 billion euro (6 % of total output of Ukraine)
42 200 enterprises (11 % from a total amount in Ukraine)
776 800 employees (9 % from total number of employees in Ukraine)

Forests and the forest sector:

- Concentrates a third part of the country forest resources.

- 51537 employees (24 % of employees of Ukrainian forest industry);

- Forest cover of the area is 39.3%

- 1938 forest and wood processing enterprises (28.5 % of Ukraine forest industry)

- Total turnover of 4.3 billion UAH (20 % of Ukraine forest industry)

- Overall standing timber stock amounts to 0.52 billion cubic meters.

- Average annual growth of forest land is 4.3 cubic meters per hectare,

- Forests of the region produce about 9 million m3 of wood annually.
